Naproxen is a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory drug NSAID which may be used for the treatment of inflammation in pets. It is typically prescribed to treat inflammation and fever. It is generally not recommended for use in dogs and cats due to the high risk of toxicity and overdose. Ibuprofen and naproxen can be toxic to dogs and cats, but cats are much more susceptible to this toxicity than dogs are. A single 200-milligram ibuprofen tablet can be toxic to a cat or small- to medium-sized dog; toxic effects can occur rapidly and damage the kidneys and stomach.
